Saturday 3rd May ‘The Plant Sale’ from 2pm at 46, Cambridge Rd

Wednesday 11th June – Visit to RHS Garden Hyde Hall Chelmsford CM3 8RA

The gardens at Hyde Hall are extensive and showcase a wide range of planting suitable for East Anglia. There are many newly replanted areas including wildflower meadows, a birch grove and the Global Growth vegetable Garden. Facilities include a restaurant, cafe and plant, craft and gift sales. A mobility vehicle is available to transport visitors to the main garden at the top of the hill.

All day visit, leaving Girton Church at 9.15am and returning around 5.30pm

Cost: including coach and free entry £14 for GGS members, £24 for non-members (including membership of GGS). RHS members who are not GGS members £17. Booking forms are available from girtongardensociety@outlook.com


Saturday 12th July – Feast week village fete

The Girton Allotment Society and the Girton Garden Society will be organising a mini fruit, flower and vegetable show in the main marquee. The categories chosen for our part of the show represent the fruit, flowers and vegetables most likely to be ready in early July, weather permitting! We would like to encourage all adults and children living in the village to show off their gardening and growing skills by entering any or all of our competition categories. See winners here.


Wednesday 16th July – visit to Coton Manor Garden Northamptonshire NN6 8RQ

Coton Manor lies in peaceful countryside which provides a lovely setting for the 10 acre garden which was started in 1925 by the owner’s grandparents and Susie Pasley-Tyler is still passionately involved in its upkeep. There are a series of smaller gardens and luxuriant borders designed and maintained by Susie and a team of gardeners. Facilities: The Stableyard cafe serves light lunches, snacks and teas. Plants propagated from the garden are available for sale. The garden has steep slopes and steps so is difficult for wheelchairs but much can be viewed from the upper level.

All day visit, leaving Girton Church bus stop at 10.15am and arriving back at about 4.45pm.
